I met Marie Antoinette today. Actually I performed a New York City elopement between my own personal Marie Antoinette, as announced, and her professional motorcycle driver. I can’t make this story up.
It was a cold day in NYC but this wedding was going to take place in the front room of a suite at the Eventi Hotel, in Chelsea. Knowing that everything in NYC is tight, I envisioned that we would all be on top of each other but that’s part of the charm of NYC. However, we entered the warmth of Anne and Grant and it was as if we were family. I could see Anne was excited, which most brides are, but her hair, her style, her beauty was enough to stop traffic. I gave out hugs and assurance of how gorgeous she looked and she joked that she was my very own Marie Antoinette. It was true though, her hair was teased and styled into the perfect hairdo that represents her flair for style. And truthfully, everything she wore that day was perfection – Her gloves, her stole, her shoes, the vintage lace dress with the high neck and even her snow boots for trouncing through the city in were sublime.
Grant was so calm but I imagine as a professional motorcycle driver this might have been a walk in the park for him. Just as Anne was perfectly dressed, Grant too had it all covered from head to toe.
As a couple, Grant and Anne have a coolness to them that most of us try to attain most of our lives. They don’t even have to try. However along with that coolness is a genuine kindness, positive attitude and a connected spirit that invites people to just want to be part of their world. It was so special for me be able to marry this beautiful couple but not because they looked beautiful but because they were beautiful on the inside and out. So attentive and thoughtful to each other. So gentle and sensitive to what the other needed. They smiled, they kissed, they laughed, they cried – we all cried. It was just perfection. It was as if the world really was revolving around them and only them for this window of ‘I do’.
The storybook love of my Marie Antoinette and my motorcycle driver will become clear when you see the pictures taken from our time together with Anne and Grant.
